Summer Body Shape Up Challenge FAQs

1. What kinds of foods will I be eating on the Summer Body Shape Up Challenge?

Think Mediterranean with a twist. There will be some meat (yes even sausages are allowed!), fish, and vegetarian meals to really get you thinking about more variety and enjoying some different tastes to your normal fare.

2. Do I need to purchase special foods or supplements to complete the challenge?

You don’t need any supplements, and we have tried to keep the foods to things you can find easily. There is a shopping list provided before the challenge so you can get organised and stock up on what you will need.

3. I am a vegetarian. Can I take part in the Summer Body Shape Up Challenge?

Absolutely. There is a lot of choice in the recipes and we will be posting more during the weeks. Where a meal contains meat or fish, you can always substitute tofu or some beans or pulses.  We will make sure that vegetarians are completely catered for.

4. Is the Summer Body Shape Up Challenge appropriate if I follow a strictly gluten-free diet?

Yes. All the recipes are designed to be gluten free. There is one meal that contains sausages, so we ask you to find gluten free ones.

5. Is the Summer Body Shape Up Challenge the same as a keto diet?

No.  A keto diet means heavily restricting carbohydrates, so that the body has to use an alternative food source. We are not doing that here. We do reduce the carbohydrates, but only the high sugar ones, so the body receives everything it needs to function properly and keep you energised throughout the day.

6. Is the Summer Body Shape Up Challenge safe if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, we would not advise you to try and lose weight. The meals are all healthy and safe for anyone, but we would want you to increase the amounts you are eating. If you contact us, we can advise you appropriately.

7. Is the Summer Body Shape Up Challenge safe if I am an athlete?

Again, we may want to change the amounts you are eating if you are taking part in some particularly challenging exercise. Contact us for more information.

8. Is the Summer Body Shape Up Challenge family-friendly/safe for children and teens?

Yes, although we would not promote a Shape Up to children. As a plan of healthy eating for energy and vitality, it is perfectly family-friendly.

9. Is the Summer Body Shape Up Challenge safe for diabetics?

Yes, although please advise us if you have any particular condition that we need to be aware of.
